When you own a car, you want it to be presentable. If it ever ends up dirty, it is understandable that you would be worried about what other people think. After all, a car, like a T-shirt or a hat, may be seen as a reflection of one’s personality. If your car looks cleaner, then people will likely have a more positive impression of you. Here are some telltale signs that would let you know when your car is in need of being cleaned.
If you have driven through a desert, or dusty valley chances are that particles will fly around and stick to your car. On rainy days, one may even drive through mud, which can certainly stick. There is also a chance that you just forgot to wash your car during the last month, or even a couple of months. If the car is noticeably brown from any of these, then it is time to give it a wash.
2. Bird Droppings
Unfortunately, birds sometimes feel the need to relieve themselves on top of cars. The mess can dry up, stick, and look very noticeable to anyone who sees the car. This would not necessarily be the best impression of the vehicle and the driver. Not only that, but bird droppings are also highly acidic which in turn deteriorates the paint of your car. It is very likely that you would rather not drive around with fecal matter stuck to your car.
Another thing that may stick would be insects. They may fly around and end up splatting on the windshield or sticking to the bumper. In an extreme case, one may even get an infestation of bed bugs on the inside of the car. Inspect your car regularly and to take note of any bug exoskeletons you might find lying around.
Among the little critters that may end up on a car is the spider. One might weave a web, perhaps on a side mirror. This can be distracting to the driver, especially if they would much rather not drive with the knowledge that there is a spider crawling somewhere on the car. If you find webs, get rid of them. There are methods of keeping spiders away, such as rubbing a lemon peel around the windows and doors.
Check the wheels for any black grease. You might want some sort of towel for this. If the wheels look messy, then you should definitely have them cleaned.
6. Water Spots
Windows and windshields can end up with water spots, perhaps due to rain or morning dew. It would be best to wipe these away, especially if they obscure your vision when you need to be able to look around while driving.
If you have ever been in a rush, chances are that you have gotten fast food from the drive-through. After finishing the meal on the way to your destination, you might toss the bag of trash behind the seats or in front of your passenger seat. The trash can accumulate, and you want passengers to be able to move comfortably in the car. So throw out the trash instead of leaving it in the car.
Of course, with the fast food trips comes the possibility of crumbs dropping on the floor or the carpet. While a tiny crumb might not be so visible right away, a collection of crumbs would certainly be noticeable to passengers. You might need to vacuum, but it will be worth it.
There is also the possibility of spilling drinks, or perhaps ice cream. These would leave stains on the floor, carpet, or even seat if you are not careful enough. Be sure to use the necessary cleaning supplies to get rid of these stains.
10. Foul Odor
Foul odor alone is a sign that something in your car needs to go, or that you need to do some cleaning that will leave a more desirable scent.
